Strawberry Days

Strawberries and Cream! Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days was a huge success. We loved being in the parade and seeing so many happy faces. I think our pictures show we had a fun time, met a lot of great people, and love the pioneers!!

A huge thanks to Nate and Abby for helping carry our banner in the parade! 

There is a wonderfully historic Pioneer Museum and DUP center, so we of course, had to take pictures:) 

The Pleasant Grove Fire Department were good sports and let us trade head gear! We got their firemen hats, and they got our crowns. True heroes!

Thank you to our Veterans!! We owe you so much.

Summer Concert

We are lucky enough, aside from spending so much time together at Days of '47 events, that we find time to spend time as friends. We didn't know each other before the pageant, but we have quickly grown to be great friends! We spent a Friday night together at the Draper Amphitheater watching Rachel Platten on her Wildfire tour. So fun!

Summer nights are the best! We truly live in a beaUTAHful state!

ISDUP Leadership Seminar

The Annual Daughters of Utah Pioneers Leadership Seminar was held in the David Conference Center on Saturday, June 4th. DUP Company Presidencies gathered for a day of training. The Royalty was invited to attend their closing banquet. As Royalty, we all have pioneer ancestry and are ambassadors for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Rachel was particularly excited to be at the event, because there were 3 generations of her family in attendance. Her Grandmother, Edna Walchli Stratford is the Corresponding Secretary for the Weber Far South Company. Her Aunt Sharon Stratford Johnson is Company President for the Cache South Company. Edna Lou Baker was there from the Company in Rupert Idaho. She was a Sister in Rachel's mission in New Zealand, and they are distant cousins.

The St. George company was thrilled to see Baylee, who is their hometown girl. Stephanie got a special shout out from a Company who had traveled from Washington State, where she served her LDS mission. 

During the banquet, we were excited to sing "Our Pioneer Things" to the tune of "My Favorite Things" from the Sound of Music. Rachel played the ukulele for accompaniment. The song is typed below:

When the storms come

When my life's rough

When I'm feeling sad

I simply remember those brave pioneers

And then I don't feel so bad!

South Jordan Summerfest Parade

Summer Parades, here we come!! We were excited to be a part of the South Jordan Summerfest Parade, June 4th. 

A huge THANK YOU to Larry H. Miller Super Ford, Salt Lake. They were so kind to lend us this beautiful white Mustang. We love our white boots, but this convertible just might be our favorite new white thing:)

Meg and Emily Garfield were our banner holders for the parade. They are some of Rachel's best friends, and they brought a whole lot of fun. Ronald McDonald was in front of us, and Meg and Emily were dancing to the music the whole route. THANK YOU!! We are so appreciative to the both of them for helping us. 

We had a lot of fun waving and talking to people along the parade route. We met someone who's sister was the Days of '47 Queen in the 80's, and another woman along the route told us she was in the Royalty too. We blew kisses to little boys who were embarrassed, and we saw lots of great pageant waves in the crowd. We know people liked seeing us, but the white Mustang got quite a lot of attention as we drove by!
